To be a non-contentious running mate for the existing six Agricultural (as well as Sector partners and fee earners) solicitors based in Bristol (all contentious). And to work with other agricultural colleagues and further enhance and develop the team’s sphere of influence (eg M4/M5 corridor).
Play a lead role in the firm’s achievement of profitability objectives, through focus on operation of the firms core skills, identify growth areas and lead this. Take objective decisions about areas of the business that are not profitable, always having the firms overall best interests at the forefront.
Responsible for self improvement and the development of fellow Partners, achieved through constructive feedback and challenging behaviours. Builds knowledge of all of the firms areas of expertise, building trust within the Partnership group.
Attends Partner meetings. Markets the firm, identifying and attending events regularly. Is known well in the local market and area of legal expertise. Has a strong professional referrer network. Contributes to marketing materials, tenders and firm press releases. Presents seminars.
Able to develop an effective strategy for the work area of specialism, that aligns with the overall firm strategy. Plays a positive role in change, is supportive of this process even where it goes against the individuals preferences - focusing on the overall firm achievement.
Provides a proactive and constructive input into the firm’s strategy.
Leadership / Management
Respects the operational Management structure of the firm. Willing to take important roles where identified to support the success of the firm.
Understands the capabilities within the team using a commercial mindset to produce the optimum success for the team through profitability. This is achieved through working closely with the team to identify not only technical skills but leadership or management skills which can be allocated at the best possible level to achieve the profitability sought.
Client/Supervising Partner Services
Responsible for the firm’s relationship with key identified Clients. Effectively manages the Client expectations in terms of regulatory requirements (such as money laundering procedures), and bill payments or credit options.
Provides and ensures others provide a first class service to Clients, including the supervision of client files and ensuring measures are in place to provide the supervised partner service during any duration of absence.
Provide expert and bespoke advice to clients in accordance with technical area of specialism; liaising with clients, colleagues/Client Partner (where appropriate) and any relevant professionals in accordance with the Thrings behaviours and values.
Focuses on profitable work, confident and tactful in responding to low value instructions managing Client expectations, delegating or referring this work elsewhere.
Plays an active and cooperative role in reaching a quick and effective resolution to any complaints received.
A team player, building strong working relationships with the core team, the wider sector group, across the firm and the Partnership. Plays an active role in the full client service including cross-team referral of work.
Has a supervisory role towards all employees of the firm, delivering reward messaged or feeding back performance concerns, challenges/praises behaviours where appropriate.
Works collaboratively with fellow Partners within the team.
Understands and cooperates with internal firm procedures, able to differentiate between responsibilities as a Partner with operational fee earner and or management responsibilities.
Comply with policies and practicess office manual and regulatory requirements external to Thrings such as the SRA Code of Practice. Take responsibility for understanding these requirements, and promote the importance of these responsibilities to colleagues.
Prioritises team achievements over personal targets, taking responsibility for ensuring there is enough work for everyone.
Able to set own and team targets, and ensures team members understand and achieve their targets such as chargeable hours and time recording, ensuring accurate records are maintained for both chargeable and non chargeable time.
Ensures team billing and fee estimate tasks are completed effectively and on time. Work proactively with the firm’s credit control team in relation to client payments, having a good understanding of write off and recovery rate requirements.
Identify and secure opportunities for work from existing clients of the firm in conjunction with colleagues.
Plan and engage in targeted business development activities to obtain new clients for own practice area and sector, and for other areas within Thrings. Build network of client referrers, understand the market place both locally and regionally. Build a strong understanding of the other business areas and people within the firm for effective internal referrals.

Meets the SRA (or other relevant regulatory body) requirements, and ensure continued personal growth in the technical area of expertise to meet the teams strategic objectives.
