Serious injuries

A serious injury will have a dramatic impact on your life. Injuries to the brain or spine, especially, can be radically life changing.

Apart from the physical and emotional trauma of the accident, there are often significant financial, employment and social implications to be tackled.

Instructing a lawyer to make a claim for compensation will never restore your health but it can improve your quality of life. Compensation can provide funding for medical and rehabilitation expenses which, in turn, can help to you to regain levels of independence.

But head and spinal injuries are not like everyday personal injury claims; they require specialist legal and medical knowledge and expertise.

Thrings’ Personal Injury team has this specialist knowledge and skills and has been recognised for many years as one of the UK’s leading law firms representing personal injury Claimants by Chambers UK, A Client’s Guide to the Legal Profession who say;

"This firm fields a formidable personal injury practice in its Swindon office. The catastrophic injury team has been active in a number of high value cases recently..."

..."The firm offers clients a comprehensive service; if required, a dedicated deputyship team is available to deal with clients’ affairs under Court of Protection Orders."

 The firm is also a member of the Brain Injury Group.

Some examples of our recent settlements:

A lump sum award of £2.3 million with annual payments of £145,000 to fund care needs for the remainder of life, for a young driver who sustained a serious brain injury in a head on collision in Wiltshire.

A multi million pound award was made to a young man who sustained a devastating brain injury after being hit by a driver as he was crossing the road walking home from school. His award was made up of a substantial lump sum award together with annual index linked payments to ensure care would be available for the rest of his life.

Compensation in excess of £6 million was secured for a young man injured in two separate road traffic accidents, in the first he suffered a serious brain injury, after the second he required bi-lateral above the knee amputations. The case involved extremely complex issues relating to apportionment between the two accidents.
