The athletic prowess of four Thrings solicitors will be put to the test this weekend as 16 sports-minded teams from across the city come together for this year’s Bath Rugby Foundation Superstars challenge.
Fitness fanatics James Archer, Michael Tatters, Rob Barnes and Natalie Wright will join sports superstars and local businesses at Bath Sports Centre on Saturday (24 January) to compete in the annual event which aims to raise funds for Bath Rugby Foundation.
During the course of the morning, participants will take on 10 demanding physical challenges, including a 1,000m timed bike ride, a 500m row, a 20m tyre pull and a basketball shootout.
And as if that wasn’t enough, competitors will also be forced to tackle the aptly named ‘crucifix’ tyre hold as well as shuttle runs against the clock in the dreaded bleep test.
All 16 teams have pledged to raise at least £500 for the Bath Rugby Foundation, the independent charity which aims to enhance the lives of children and young people in the local area through sport.
As reward for their superhuman efforts, competitors will each receive four complimentary tickets for Bath Rugby’s home match against Glasgow Warriors on Sunday courtesy of the Bath Rugby Foundation.
James, who is taking part in his second successive Superstars, says: “If last year’s event is anything to go by, members of all 16 teams can expect a thoroughly enjoyable and highly rewarding day. The events will be punishing and the competition fierce, with the charged atmosphere hopefully inspiring some fantastic individual and team performances.
“Thrings is tremendously proud of its long-term association with the Bath Rugby Foundation, which does so much fantastic and necessary work for children and young people in and around the city.”
Halena Coury, Head of Fundraising at the Bath Rugby Foundation, adds: “We are extremely excited to welcome old and new faces back to the Bath Sports Centre this year.
“As always, we are so grateful to all the sporting superstars and companies supporting the Foundation by taking part. The challenge is a great opportunity to bring all the community together for a fun event, while raising money to allow us to host our Inclusion Fun Day in the summer once again.”
