Carey qualified as a Solicitor in the Thrings Employment Team in September 2010, after having completed her training contract with Thrings. Carey specialises in practical employment advice that is tailored to meet the demands and needs of clients from both a commercial and private client perspective.
Carey provides a comprehensive range of employment services to employer clients, from drafting contracts of employment and the full range of policies and procedures, to defending complex litigation in an Employment Tribunal. Carey also delivers practical day to day advice on the application of employment law in the workplace, analysing the circumstances to meet the client’s objectives whilst avoiding unnecessary risk. Carey often advises on the negotiations that lead up to a Settlement Agreement, from both an Employer and Employee perspective.
Recent highlights include:
- Winning an Unfair Dismissal claim for a Union backed Claimant who was reinstated and received sizeable compensation. The Client's daughter emailed:
"Just wanted to say a huge thank you. Without the constant help and assistance from you it would have been much harder for us to fight the case and win."
- Advising a client in relation to a complicated high profile conduct dismissal, in conjunction with Lorraine Stevens, Thrings’ HR Consultant, who oversaw the disciplinary proceedings. The CEO attested: "The support from Carey Cooper and Lorraine Stevens has been absolutely second to none. It was comforting to know that despite being in an unpleasant situation to deal with, I had the right people advising me every step of the way in terms of knowledge and expertise."
