Award-winning law firm Thrings has extended its reputation for excellence, with a standout set of results in this year's Legal 500 rankings.
The annual directory, which has drawn from research of law firms across the world for more than 30 years, uses the testimony of thousands of clients to highlight the leading firms and individuals in the legal profession.
Securing 20 team rankings and 13 individual rankings, and with 40 lawyers directly named in the 2027 edition, it’s one of Thrings’ best showings in the prestigious guide to date.
Agriculture
The firm’s Agriculture team remains a nationally leading presence, maintaining its Tier 1 Legal 500 ranking in the South West and Tier 2 in the South East.
For the first time in this directory, Mark Charter joins Russell Reeves and Duncan Sigournay as a Leading Partner in the guide, with Robert James continuing as a Next Generation Partner, and Claire Davies and Polly Ridgway both ranked as Leading Associates.
Private Client
Thrings’ Family law offering continues to shine, with rankings awarded to the Romsey office and the Bristol, Bath and Swindon teams earning Tier 2 and Tier 3 rankings respectively. Sally Pike in Romsey is also recognised as a leading partner.
Also securing a place in Tier 2 is Thring’s Contentious Probate team, with Emily Prout once again ranked as a Next Generation Partner.
The firm’s Succession and Tax team, ranked in the sought-after Band 1 in the Chambers High Net Worth Guide earlier this year, also retains its Tier 3 ranking with Legal 500 in the new directory.
Real Estate
The firm’s Commercial Property team in the South West retain their Tier 3 ranking, with its Planning and Environment, and Construction teams both ranked in Tier 4.
Meanwhile, Thrings’ Property Litigation team enter the rankings in Tier 3, reflecting the significant work the team does in handling disputes between landowners, landlords and tenants across the country.
Business Growth
Thrings has further strengthened its position as a trusted adviser to businesses with its commercially focused contentious and non-contentious teams securing a total of 15 rankings.
Increasing its presence in the rankings, Thrings’ Employment team not only retains its Tier 3 status in Bristol, but also earns a new ranking for the team in Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire, reflecting its wider service.
Meanwhile, the Corporate and Commercial teams in both Bristol and Swindon also secure Tier 3 rankings, as does the firm’s Banking and Finance service – with both Mike Tomlin and Elaine Meyrick both named as Leading Partners.
Commercial Litigation
The firm’s Commercial Litigation teams in Swindon and Bristol maintain their Tier 2 and Tier 3 rankings respectively. In addition, Ramona Derbyshire retains her status as a twice-ranked Leading Partner, recognised for her expertise in both litigation and debt recovery.
Thrings’ Intellectual Property team also maintain their Tier 3 positions, with Megan Jefferies securing her status as a Leading Partner.
Expanding its presence is the firm’s Restructuring and Insolvency practice. Continuing to be ranked in Tier 4 in the South West, the team has also entered the rankings in the South East as a “Firm to Watch”.
