Head of Renewables
Helen heads up our Renewable Energy practice. Helen specialises in the property aspects of renewable energy projects with a particular interest in solar, wind, AD, hydro, community energy and battery storage.
Helen has extensive experience in acting for UK based and International developers as well as landowners, farmers and community groups and has an in depth understanding of developer, landowner and funder requirements. Helen can apply her knowledge and experience of renewables projects to negotiate documents which protect her clients’ interests whilst ensuring the commercial viability of the project.
Helen’s renewables experience includes drafting and negotiating option agreements, leases, deeds of grant and ancillary documents including finance documents such as direct agreements and certificates of title, dealing with lease assignments and surrenders, sales and purchases and liaising with clients’ lenders.
Helen also provides support to our corporate and agriculture teams and has experience of buying and selling farms, selling and leasing land for commercial use and for development and secured lending work.
Helen is able to advise on the commercial and legal implications of various complex property transactions including buying and selling subject to tenancies, selling part only, buying and selling subject to or with the benefit of overage and dealing with title issues such as mines and mineral reservations, manorial rights and access issues.
Helen is a member of Entrepreneurial Women in Renewable Energy, increasing the visibility and the profile of women working in the renewables sector.
Helen is a board member of Low Carbon Gordano, a community benefit society helping to create a low carbon future through renewable energy generation, energy storage and carbon reduction measures.
