Businesses vie for coveted Innovation & Technology crown

Judges draw up shortlists for 2020 South West Business Leader Awards.

The finalists in the Innovation & Technology category for the 2020 South West Business Leader Awards have been announced following a two-month assessment by a team of independent judges.

Software developers Amdaris, video technology and AI specialists One Big Circle, and remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) and hydrographic services providers Rovco have all been shortlisted.

They will compete for top honours with business management consultants Intouch With Health, aeroponics grower and indoor farming technology providers LettUs Grow, and digital engineering business The Centre for Modelling & Simulation.

Having completed an intensive scoring and critiquing exercise, the judging panel - which includes Kate Westbrook, partner and head of commercial at category sponsors Thrings – will present the award to the company which “has a product or service innovation that has led to commercial success or had a significant impact”.

Kate said: “It has been a real privilege to have an insight into nominees’ businesses during the awards process. The judging process has been extremely rigorous and all nominees can be proud of what they’ve achieved.

“Congratulations go to all six finalists who have demonstrated the impact that technology can have on our economy – and that’s more vital now than ever.”

The South West Business Leader Awards - organised by Business Leader - bring together leaders in business, education and government to recognise and celebrate business success, supported by professionals and advisors from across the region.

Organisers received a record number of entries from South West businesses in many sectors. The winners will be announced at a virtual ceremony in early 2021. Subject to Covid restrictions, finalists, winners and sponsors will then come together for a celebration dinner later in the year.
