Rugby fan Simon Hore loves to get over the gain line for his clients and ‘tries’ his hand at all things corporate and banking.
What do you do?
I have been at Thrings for over 16 years and I’m now a Partner in the South West Corporate team. My workload includes the acquisition and sale of businesses and companies, start ups, investments and restructures as well as advising lenders and borrowers as a member of the Thrings’ Banking and Finance team.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Helping clients along the emotional rollercoaster that is a business sale! For many it is the biggest moment in their business life and the culmination of many years of hard work. A happy and grateful client is always a rewarding and satisfying outcome.
What is the best place you have ever travelled to and why?
I’ll go with Sri Lanka. A combination of great company, amazing food, stunning beaches, friendly people and a test match win is hard to beat!

‘Mr Jones’ by Counting Crows (not to be confused with ‘Dr Jones’ by Aqua which I once mistakenly requested from a busker).
What makes you happy?
A Bristol Bears victory (I would say over Bath, but that is less scarce these days!!). Having been a supporter for most of my life there have been many ups and downs, and the current “up” is a welcome change from a lot of downs!
What advice would you give your younger self?
If you’re standing in a golf buggy travelling at 20mph, hold on to the handles at all times.
