Launching the Wiltshire Business of the Year Awards 2017

Now in their 23rd year and developed by Newsquest Wiltshire, the awards recognise and celebrate the excellence and outstanding achievements of the county’s thriving business community.

Thrings commercial partner and long-time award judge, John Davies, shared his confidence in the local business community with Wiltshire Business, as featured in the October 2016 issue:

“It’s fair to say that with Brexit and a general election, this has probably been one of the most interesting periods, both politically and economically, since Thrings began its long association with the Wiltshire Business Awards.

“The outlook is uncertain to say the least, but businesses are working hard to embrace change and seek out opportunities. If there’s anything I’ve learned from judging this competition over the years, it’s that Wiltshire is tough, resilient, resourceful and optimistic.”

You can read John’s comments in full here, part of a feature encouraging businesses to get involved in the awards - the most highly-regarded of their type in the county.

Speaking at this morning’s event, Swindon-based litigation partner Ramona Derbyshire welcomed the entrepreneurs and business representatives, and said: “The Wiltshire Business of the Year awards has so much to offer to participating businesses and judges alike. For one, Thrings gets to see the inspiring example set by local enterprises.

“It’s been great to hear how previous contestants have really valued the exercise of sitting down to evaluate how they go about their business. Being shortlisted has also given a real moral boost to staff, with many using the gala dinner as a way to treat their teams to a great night out.”

2016’s gala event gathered more than 330 guests and saw packaging group Wasdell take home the top title of Outstanding Excellence – also sponsored by Thrings - as well as winning the Medium Sized Enterprise of the Year award.

For a chance at one of the prestigious awards, entries can be submitted for free by 27 January 2017. As in previous years, there will be a chance to meet the judges in February, ahead of the gala dinner at CenterParcs in Longleat Forest on Friday 5 May 2017.
