Thrings deal shortlisted for prestigious Insider award

Lawyers from Thrings have received recognition from a leading business publication after completing the sale of one of the UK and Ireland’s leading commercial providers of electric submersible pumps. The finalists for the Insider Wales Dealmakers Awards 2021 have been named, with the sale of Pump Supplies to the Lakers Group – a transaction in which members of Thrings’ Corporate and Real Estate teams played a key role – included in the International Deal of the Year category.

Insider is the UK’s most successful regional business-to-business media company. Its five regional magazines are read by more than 200,000 business professionals and entrepreneurs every year, while its websites attract more than 250,000 unique users.

The Pump Supplies / Lakers Group deal – first reported by Insider in March – was led by John Davies, Simon Hore, Conor Melvin and Chloe Williams in Thrings’ Corporate team, with associate solicitor Rebecca Whiting handling property matters.

As a result of the transaction, Pump Supplies became part of the Lakers Group, a Nordic private equity group active in aftermarket services in the water and wastewater industry.

At the completion of the deal, Andrew John, managing director of Pump Supplies, said: “John, Simon and the team at Thrings were great to work with on the transaction. They were able to guide me through the legal process, explain things clearly and worked hard to ensure that we achieved the right deal.”

Watersheds partner Jessica Painter advised Pump Supplies on corporate finance matters. The transaction also featured input from experts at Grant Thornton, Pinsent Masons, Swedbank and Summa Equity.

The winners of the Wales Dealmakers Award 2021 will be announced on 9 September.

Thrings has enjoyed a rich history with Insider, with the firm having collected Deal of the Year (for the $191m sale of Watson Petroleum to World Fuel) and Corporate Law Firm of the Year at the South West Dealmakers Awards in 2014.
