    Alastair is a Partner in our Commercial and Dispute Resolution Team, coming recommended by both Chambers & Partners for his reputation as an ‘exceedingly professional practitioner’, and by the Legal 500 as an ‘excellent communicator’.

    Having joined Thrings in 2006, Alastair has more than three decades of experience as a commercial litigator, including 12 years working in London.

    He works across a variety of commercial disputes for clients ranging from entrepreneurs and SMEs to global corporations. He has a particular expertise in corporate and commercial disputes, financial services and pensions-related disputes, shareholder/corporate disputes and construction/engineering disputes.  He is a proactive user of ADR to achieve early commercial resolutions.

    Alastair's relevant experience includes:
    • Conducting UK court litigation, arbitration, adjudication and expert determinations
    • Dealing with claims referred to the Pensions and Financial Ombudsmen, as well as regulatory matters (e.g. FCA, challenging the decisions of government agencies by way of judicial review)
    • Using alternative dispute resolution (ADR) procedures (particularly mediation) to achieve effective early commercial resolutions of disputes for clients
    • Advising on internal investigations, corporate governance issues, risk management and dispute avoidance
    • Acting for the Government of Romania in UK Supreme Court proceedings relating to the enforcement of an international arbitration award under the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes Convention
