Associate - Agricultural Dispute Resolution

Ken specialises in dispute resolution, particularly for agricultural businesses and rural communities. He deals with a range of matters involving land, professional negligence, contracts and criminal and regulatory prosecutions. Formerly a barrister, Ken is skilled at preparing cases for court wherever this approach is advised.

An integral member of our Agriculture team, Ken represents farmers, rural landowners and farming businesses on a wide range of disputes, from matters relating to land to those affecting business contracts. He is a member of the Agricultural Law Association, Countryside Alliance and the CLA. He also regularly contributes to the Farmers Weekly Business Clinic. As someone who is closely involved with his own rural community, Ken has a particular interest for issues affecting agriculture and related businesses.

Ken's relevant experience includes:

  • dealing with contract disputes over the supply of defective machinery, fuel and other goods and provision of substandard services
  • advising clients on prosecutions by the police and regulators such as Trading Standards and the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority
  • handling proceedings before the courts and the Tribunals regarding rights of way, boundaries, adverse possession, drainage, trespass, restrictive covenants and flooding
  • advising on actions to enforce the rights of individuals against membership organisations and incorporated bodies
  • dealing with negligence claims against local authorities and professionals
  • preparing and negotiating of contract farming agreements
