Thrings Associate declared ‘rising star’ of national family law awards

Thrings Associate Zhenja Cann has been named the winner of the prestigious “Rising Star” Award at the Resolution Awards 2025.

A standout member of the firm’s Family team and Co-Chair of the national Young Resolution (YRes) Committee, Zhenja win recognises her exceptional contribution to family law, her drive for innovation and reform, and her commitment to advancing the profession.

Described in the Legal 500 as “a truly exceptional young lawyer,” Zhenja has been a driving force in the firm’s work to support separating couples with constructive out-of-court solutions and has been a role model and dedicated mentor to her fellow junior lawyers, producing guidance, taking on pro-bono cases and offering both legal expertise and compassion to clients in crisis.

In her role as YRes Co-Chair, Zhenja has been extremely active in her efforts to provide a stronger voice to emerging practitioners and push for practicing family law to be more accessible and inclusive.

This has included through her involvement with the Resolution National Committee and leading the delivery of two YRes conferences as well as taking part in the Family Justice Question Time panel and the Talking Family Law podcast.

Founded in 1982, Resolution is a national organisation for the Family Law sector that works towards achieving better outcomes for separating families and their children, with its national awards celebrating those that embody best practice and go above and beyond to improve the lives of families.
